About Our Vision

In today’s rapidly evolving educational landscape, the need for visionary leadership within our school systems has never been more critical. I, Maisie Howard, am committed to championing the cause of comprehensive educational excellence in Anne Arundel County. As a dedicated parent and community advocate, I understand the multifaceted challenges faced by our students, teachers, and families. My vision is rooted in a collaborative approach that emphasizes inclusivity, accessibility, and transparency, ensuring that every voice is heard and every child is supported. Throughout my tenure on the Advisory Board and the Citizens Advisory Committee to the AACPS Board of Education, I have gained invaluable insights into the intricate workings of our school system. This experience has equipped me with a deep understanding of the policy and regulatory frameworks that underpin our educational processes. I have seen firsthand the diverse needs of our community—from students requiring special education services to military families seeking stable educational pathways for their children.

My vision is to streamline these experiences, making our school system not only accessible but also adaptable to the unique needs of all students. Our district stands on the brink of transformative changes with the implementation of the Blueprint for Maryland’s Future and the ongoing Phase 2 redistricting plans. These changes present a unique opportunity to redefine our educational standards and ensure that our students are not only learners but also innovators and leaders of tomorrow. I am committed to overseeing these transformations, ensuring they are implemented thoughtfully and inclusively, aligning with our community’s needs and aspirations.

Our belief is every student deserves to be healthy and ready to learn. Our plan is to make sure all students have easy access to health care and health education right at their schools. This includes help for mental health, regular health checks, and lessons on how to stay healthy. We want to work with local health groups to bring these services and education to our schools, making it easy for students to take care of their health. By connecting health care and education, we aim to help every student do well in school and feel great through their educational journey.

Engagement and participation are key to our success. I am dedicated to fostering a school environment where parents, students, and educators are active participants in shaping our educational policies and practices. This means creating more opportunities for community input and feedback at every level of decision-making. My commitment extends to reinforcing our community's support networks, enhancing resource coordination for special programs, and ensuring that every student, regardless of background or circumstance, has the support they need to succeed. I am asking for your support as I strive to represent District 7 on the Board of Education of Anne Arundel County.
